The ecosystem of pilot projects supported by the RESOURCE program continues to grow as a hub for green innovation, circular economy solutions, and the transition toward more sustainable industrial and social models. So far, the program has supported 10 pilot initiatives, each at different stages of technological development, funding, and implementation:
- Feltwood is one of the most advanced pilots in terms of funding, having secured €513,000 in initial investment and actively working to close an additional €300,000 round. With grants included, their total committed capital reaches €2.5 million. The next steps focus on developing the pilot plant and strengthening engagement with potential customers.
- Several projects have successfully drawn the attention of venture capital (VC) funds, family offices, and strategic industrial partners. Among them, Smart Moss stands out, having held meetings with up to seven investors, particularly those focused on urban air quality and wellness in indoor environments.
- BUGCLE has also secured a capital injection through collaboration with another industrial partner project, CERFO. Following licensing approval, one of their products is already being used by a potential client. They have also held meetings with four investors, including several VCs, and are awaiting sales progress before advancing to the next funding steps.
- CADIUCO and Green Foundry are also engaging with VCs and industrial backers, while Recicla y Suma explores innovative financing paths, including energy savings certificates (CAEs) and tokenisation.
The involvement of industrial partners has become a key driver of scalability. Projects like Green Foundry, CADIUCO, and BUGCLE have already secured backing from companies that provide not only funding but also infrastructure, market access, and technical validation.
European programs such as EIT Climate, EIT Food, and EIT Mobility are playing a vital role by enabling access to public and cascade funding. Smart Moss, Recicla y Suma, and BUGCLE have already applied or are preparing to apply, increasing their options to move forward while private rounds remain open.
Recent Milestones
- Smart Moss recently added a new CTO after completing the Sherpa Tribe acceleration program and is now advancing in technological partnerships.
- BUGCLE has secured a collaboration with CERFO, providing capital and infrastructure.
- EWM (Ecohelp) is awaiting licensing to begin operations at its pilot facility focused on egg waste treatment.
- CADIUCO has achieved positive laboratory results and has partnered with Grupo Pastores, while also attracting interest from investors and family offices.
Shared challenges include a reliance on public funding to unlock private capital, a need for more technical or market validation to secure larger investments, and difficulty in closing full investment rounds at early stages. Many investors have expressed interest but remain cautious until further evidence is available.
